Welcome to the Alabama Commercial Real Estate Index™ (AL CREI). The AL CREI  measures commercial real estate expectations for the upcoming quarter gathered from a broad group of professionals working in commercial real estate and related fields. Eight key indicators create a composite index of overall market conditions and an outlook for specific property types. Through the survey, panelists can take the pulse of the state’s commercial real estate market as well as compare their own forecasts to those of their peers.

CRE Confidence Shows Slight Decline in Q2 2026

The Alabama Commercial Real Estate Index™ (AL CREI™) is a quarterly survey of commercial brokers, developers, property managers, investors, lenders, and other industry professionals to gauge expectations for the upcoming quarter. An index value of 50 indicates a neutral outlook; values below 50 suggest a contractionary outlook, while values above 50 reflect expansionary expectations. 

The AL CREI™ recorded a value of 50.9 in the Q2 2026 survey, representing a 6.3 point decrease from the previous quarter and signaling mildly confident outlook. All four components, the AL market outlook, US market outlook, interest rates, and construction costs, experienced a decline, with Interest rates showing the largest declinefalling 15.3 points from the previous quarterIn light of recent trends, commercial real estate professionals across Alabama are less confident about overall market conditions than during Q1 2026.
