Alabama’s new home sales across its five major markets rose nearly 2 percent in February compared to 2016.
According to the Alabama Center for Real Estate’s latest New Construction report, there were 314 new homes sold in Alabama during February, compared to 309 sold a year ago and 311 sold in January.
Here’s how the five major markets stacked up.
Birmingham: 135 New Homes Sold
Huntsville: 117 New Homes Sold
Mobile: 17 New Homes Sold
Montgomery: 29 New Homes Sold
Tuscaloosa: 16 New Homes Sold
The median sales price for new homes in Alabama was $226,267, down 1.4 percent from a year ago.
The average days on the market for new homes was 98, down 31 percent from February 2016.
Inventory in the new home sector dropped 0.3 percent to 1,904 units.
