Don Goldstein, CEO of 5Q Cyber, will present on trending cyber security issues within the commercial real estate industry at the 2019 Alabama Real Estate Management Forum powered by IREM and ACRE on August 22, 2019, in Birmingham, AL. Goldstein’s session will focus on the current threats that commercial real estate companies face and what steps property managers need to take to protect their properties and tenants.
As commercial real estate firms continue to invest in technology, “there also is a growing attack surface within the commercial real estate industry” says Goldstein. “With the continued investment into smart buildings and the tenant experience, there is continued growth in threats to commercial real estate firms and their tenants, that many firms are not prepared for” says Goldstein. Goldstein aims to educate those within the industry on what threats exist and how to avoid cybersecurity pitfalls. Goldstein’s presentation will focus on four main areas where cyber breaches can impact a commercial real estate firm. Additionally, Goldstein will cover cyber readiness, developing a cyber program and training resources that are available.
Goldstein currently serves as the CEO of 5Q Cyber and previously spent 19 years at CBRE (5 as CISO). Goldstein also currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor at Carnegie Mellon University within the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy.
