ACRE Presents Data, Center Updates to BAR Leadership Academy

Last week, the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE) shared new housing data and center updates with the Birmingham Association of Realtors (BAR) Leadership Academy.

According to BAR’s Education Director, Joseph Hollis, the biennial event targets “up and coming” real estate agents who are nominated by their peers as the next leaders in real estate. The leadership training course included multiple guest speakers, including sessions from Mayor Jeff Mims from Clanton, Alabama, Mayor Bobby Scott of Center Point, Alabama, and City Council Representative Crystal Smitherman office along with ACRE.

“We’re basically bringing people in from all walks of life, all different skill sets that involve real estate (which) could give us insider information to better help our clients,” Hollis said. “Agents have more roles than just selling houses, we’re extensions of the community.”

Hollis said the reason for inviting ACRE to present its findings and center updates at this year’s seminar was because of the impact the center has made on students and the real estate industry. The Center serves more than 800 students who are pursuing a minor in real estate at The University of Alabama.

While serving students through organizations such as the Collegiate Career Assistance Program (CCAP) and the Career Opportunities in Real Estate Program (CORE), the center also conducts research and produces monthly housing reports in more than 20 counties across Alabama.

“(ACRE) has the knowledge, but has also started programs that help people learn about real estate,” Hollis said. “I’ve seen that personally, and BAR as well, are very interested in is the earlier you can teach people about the real estate, the better.”

Hollis said the goal for the leadership academy is to continue to bring in professional experts such as ACRE to help the team at BAR stays up to date on the latest housing trends and forecasts.

“We’re extremely grateful to the Birmingham Association of Realtors for the opportunity to contribute to their Leadership Academy seminar,” ACRE Executive Director, Grayson Glaze said. “It was an honor to share insights and updates on the current landscape of real estate and the initiatives underway at ACRE. Engaging with the next generation of leaders in the industry was truly inspiring, and we commend BAR for their commitment to fostering leadership excellence. We look forward to continued collaboration and support as we collectively drive positive change in the real estate sphere.”
