For the past 17 years, The Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE) has gathered and hosted Alabama’s commercial real estate community at ACREcom. The annual commercial real estate conference and expo combines competitive industry insight and specific local market knowledge to educate, connect and inspire Alabama business professionals in the field of real estate.
ACRE is pleased to announce that the eighteenth annual ACREcom commercial real estate conference and expo will be held on February 9, 2018 at the The Club in Birmingham. The 2018 conference theme is “Navigating in the New Age of Real Estate” and will be an opportunity for attendees to learn in detail about the disruptions, strategies and opportunities saturating the modern commercial real estate market.

KC is a nationally recognized Subject Matter Expert on commercial real estate matters with specialized expertise in Valuation, Ports & Logistics, housing economics, AG land, Aging Services Housing, Bank Regulation, and Real Estate Finance with a history of accurately forecasting real estate trends and changing market conditions across the U.S.
Chris Lee – President & CEO, CEL & Associates
Chris has over 30 years of experience within the real estate industry including real estate development, land-use economics, strategic planning, investment analysis, workouts, mergers/acquisitions, compensation, finance, and performance benchmarking. He provides and interdisciplinary approach to the overall process of analyzing trends within the commercial real estate industry and guiding real estate organizations and real estate teams.
Kathy Deck – Director of Community & Economic Research Partnerships, University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce
Kathy’s research interests include regional economic development, industry market structure and higher education economics. She served for ten years as the Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas where her research agenda revolved around examining how to make regions more complete participants in the knowledge-based economy. Kathy also acts as a media resource for economic analysis of current events and trends.
Jim Newsome, III – President & CEO, South Carolina Ports Authority
Jim has over 30 years of professional experience in global container shipping and related fields. He is only the fifth leader in the history of the South Carolina Ports Authority. He is also currently the longest serving leader of a major container port in the United States with eight years in his position. Jim is a frequent speaker to industry, professional, civic and educational groups. He will be presenting the ACREcom 2018 lunch keynote titled “Navigating New Frontiers: Supply Chain Opportunities in the New Age of Real Estate”.
Stephen McNair, PhD – McNair Historic Preservation, Inc.
Stephen is the owner and senior consultant of a national full-service historic preservation consulting firm specializing in historic tax credit development projects, National Register nominations, architectural design, regulatory compliance and government relations. Stephen has also served in various government and non-profit roles furthering the cause of historic preservation in Louisiana, Scotland and Alabama. He is currently serving on the Executive Board of Preservation Action, a Washington DC based non-profit that develops and advocates for historic economic development legislation.
