From Legacy to Leadership: Stuart Norton Named Director of ACRE

The Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE) is pleased to announce Stuart Norton as its new Director. With a career shaped by both a passion for education and a dedication to real estate research and industry engagement, Norton is uniquely positioned to lead ACRE into its next chapter of impact and innovation.

A Birmingham native, Norton earned his B.A. in Political Science from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master’s in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Before joining ACRE, he spent nearly a decade teaching history, where he developed a strong commitment to mentorship and helping students grow into future leaders. He also served as an instructor for a professional development and leadership course in the Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama, guiding students through the transition from the classroom to the workplace.

Norton joined ACRE driven by his passion for real estate and his desire to help others understand the industry. Throughout his time at the center, he has served as Research Coordinator, Data Analytics Coordinator, and Associate Director, roles that gave him opportunities not only to identify trends in the state’s housing market, but also to connect with industry professionals, students, and communities through the center’s outreach programs.

“I am honored to serve the state’s real estate industry as Director of the Alabama Center for Real Estate. The ACRE team has an exciting fall ahead of us with industry events in Dothan, Huntsville, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa, and we look forward to connecting with industry professionals in these areas. Industry engagement remains a top priority, and our real estate students will have an opportunity to supplement their classroom instruction with experiential learning at CCIM and ICSC conferences this fall.”

As Director, Norton looks forward to expanding ACRE’s impact by creating more opportunities for industry events, professional development, and partnerships. His vision is guided by the belief that relationships and industry engagement are the keys to serving Alabama’s real estate community and preparing the next generation of professionals.
