Home sales in Alabama’s largest market rose 5 percent during February when compared to the year prior.
According to data obtained by the Alabama Center for Real Estate from the Birmingham Association of Realtors, there were 971 homes sold in metro Birmingham during February. There were 924 homes sold in February 2016.

Inventory in Birmingham actually rose slightly both year-over-year and month-to-month during February. There were 5,912 homes listed for sale during the month, up 2.4 percent from last year and up slightly 0.7 percent from January.
Home prices continued to rise as well for the area, up 2.7 percent to a median sales price of $175,650, a new peak for the month of February.
